Crane & Tower Operator

Crane and Tower Operators work at major ports, loading and unloading containers on and off ships. To do this, they run equipment, like cranes, cherry pickers, and electromagnets, which lift and move cargo containers. By turning dials, moving levers, and depressing pedals on machinery, crane and tower operators extend and retract horizontally mounted booms and lower and raise hooks attached to load lines. Other responsibilities include determining load weights and checking them against lifting capacities to prevent overload and inspecting and adjust crane mechanisms and lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions or damage.

What to expect

Do you like working outside? Are you comfortable with performing repetitive tasks? As a Crane and Tower Operation, safety of yourself and others is a priority. Precision and high attention to detail will also be essential in this role.
