Welders use specialized equipment to join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, and seams of fabricated metal products. Welders may also be required to cut metal based on blueprints to construct new pipe or structural steel systems for process systems and unit infrastructure components. The skill level varies depending on the type of welding.
Are you skilled with your hands and calm under pressure? Interested in making things for a living? Being a welder will require a steady hand, physical strength, and an eye for quality and detail. You might work with a partner or in a team, which will require excellent communication skills and a concern for others.
